“Reverend John Klawiter heard about plans to build tiny homes and had a revelation. His church, Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake, could lead the charge”
– Twincities.com
Just like Hayward church’s Tiny Home Project, a new model has developed showing how effective and tangible tiny home projects are to the ones in need.
The Faith Lutheran church worked with a nonprofit organization, Settled, to develop a plan to build 12 tiny homes for homeless veterans in the church’s 7.8-acre property.
The biggest obstacle to affordable housing is NIMBYism, or “Not In My Back Yard” mentality. Churches are standing up for those in need by saying their land is available to help.
For the Faith Lutheran Church project, each tiny house is estimated to cost around $20,000 to $30,000 using recycled wooden boards.
Typically tiny houses are handmade from wood which makes labor and time very expensive. Most on the market these days come with all the extra bells and whistles which mark it up to $50,000 to $60,000.
BOSS Tiny House saw the need in the market for tiny houses with no frills. Our model is mass-producing tiny house kits with steel panels that are easy to assemble and extremely affordable. BOSS Tiny House kits start from $6,500 and up!
